Oliver Allenstedt outet sich mit 19 Jahren, lebt offen schwul, fragt sich aber auch immer wieder, warum er bis dahin leidenschaftlich in verschiedene Mdchen verschossen war. Von Lebenspartner zu Lebenspartner wird er depressiver und als unerklrliche, alzheimerhnliche Symptome ihn in die psychiatrische Klinik zwingen, muss er akzeptieren, dass seine Seele um Hilfe ruft. Oliver startet mit professioneller Hilfe einen schmerzhaften Weg der Erkenntnis und lernt die Ursachen seiner Depressionen und sich selbst zu verstehen und damit umzugehen. Die Depression nun endgltig besiegt und damit alle Probleme gelst geglaubt, verlangt seine allmhlich gesundende Seele das zurck, was ihr whrend den Depressionen vorenthalten wurde. Von nchtlichen Trumen inspiriert und durch Neugier und Ungewissheit getrieben fhrt Oliver abenteuerliche Selbstversuche durch. Olivers schwule Leben funktioniert danach bald berhaupt nicht mehr und er steht pltzlich mit 40 Jahren vor einem neuen Coming Out als Heterosexueller gegenber seinen schwulen Freunden, tolerierenden Bekannten und Familie mit all seinen berraschenden Folgen und unerwartet neuen Mglichkeiten... In anschlieenden Essays setzt sich der Autor mit seinen Depressionen auseinander und begreift seine Homosexualitt als Exil seiner krankenden Seele und Stagnation seiner Persnlichkeitsentwicklung. Wie sind seine Depressionen entstanden? Wie hat er seine Depressionen berwunden? Warum verschwand mit den Depressionen automatisch seine schwule Orientierung? Was begnstigte dieses Exil?
